Online Multiplayer Game

I worked on a 3d online multiplayer platforming game where the players goal is to steal a magic artifact from a temple protected by ghosts which are players who have already died.

I used Unity with Netcode For Game Objects, To learn about the difference between design for singleplayer and multiplayer.  

I released the game on 31st of may 2024. On June 13 I updated the game. This included an in-game tutorial video:


Quest Design
I added a quests system for the game where the player is motivated to either give the artifact stolen from the temple either to The Machine or The Altar. Both have different story implication in the game and in addition the choice is made more interesting by giving players different types of point and with that different cosmetics.
You get Temple Points for giving the artifact to The Altar and freeing the trapped spirits.

You get “Father” Points for giving the artifact to The Machine and bringing the invaluable energy source back to your country.

You get General Points for playing matches and killing other players as a ghost

Level Design
The level is inspired by Egyptian temples, featuring a courtyard, large pillars, and a storage area with large vases. 
The level is designed so that you immediately see the artifact when you enter the temple. A crumbling staircase leads to the artifact.

Broken sections block various paths. This creates a central route that all runners must follow. 


In different places, you can take a shortcut with the help of other players. In this example, 1 is the original path, and 2 is a shortcut. Players can only access the shortcut by standing on another player’s head and jumping from there to reach it.
